Ascension St. John awards The Common Good with $2 million grant | News

TULSA, Okla. — The Common Good has been awarded a $2 million, three-year grant from Ascension St. John’s health equity initiative.

The Common Good said the funding will be spread over three years and will help address community food and health challenges while enabling strategic neighborhood investments across northwest Tulsa.

The funding will go toward new health equity projects, student and family support and the future launch of a Mother’s Day Out program.

“We are excited to pursue new and long-term transformational projects that align with our mission,” said Stephen Pyle, executive director of The Common Good. “This investment will allow us to broaden our impact in the community, expand our programming, and work with our neighbors to drive solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in northwest Tulsa. We are grateful to Ascension for believing in our vision and excited for the road ahead!”

The Common Good said the grant will immediately allow the hiring of a Kitchen Manager to prepare healthy meals for program participants. It will also help furnish the new Mid/High Expansion Project, a space for 6th-12th graders.

The nonprofit’s goal is to provide resources, services and opportunities for children and youth so they may overcome social and economic challenges.
