How I Remember Everything I Read

So, there’s this fallacy that when you read a book you are supposed to remember everything you read or else you wasted your time.

The truth a lot of books are very similar, original ideas tend to be very unoriginal, and from reading over 200 books or so, I could tell you, I realize that a lot of books just have 1-3 ideas worth remembering.

What I’m saying is, not everything you read is worth remember, and not everything you don’t remember, doesn’t mean you don’t still use it (it sounds weird I know)

1. Mistakes People Make

-Speed reading: I remember this joke that warren buffet uses, he says a lot of people that speed read, once they are done with the book, you ask them what it was about and they tell you sometime like “ business “

-Reading a book from beginnings to End ( in that order ) : I get the author have their entire sequence and preference but the minute I buy the book, I can do what I want. So I start at the part that most interest me. Unless your reading fiction obviously.

-Just Reading: Read, Write and Practice ( extra teach )

2. What I’ve learned and Started To practice

-Pomodoro Technique

-Read as if you were studying ( words you don’t understand research, concepts write down on paper and take a lot of notes of the ideas that jump out at you )

-Reread: its better to read a great book 10 times than to read 10 different books

Make your own Table of Contents

-I started doing this a few days ago and then realize a lot of reader do this

-They take the most interesting points and write them down with the page, so can remember

3. How many books do you need to read

Self Help books are great ( but they all say the things in different ways )

Application Book are Great ( but they don’t work unless you practice )

Fiction Books are awesome ( because you can always remember a good story )
