How To Apply For A Credit Card Without A Social Security Number

Now this video isn’t just for immigrants that came without paper, although this can also help you and your family a ton. But its also for the students that came from a foreign country, its also for the people that foreiners and just want to establish credit.

Now I do I have good news, yes it is possible to build credit, and check credit, without having to have a social security. Good news to is, this shouldn’t affect your status as an immigrant but in certain ways might actually help you.

Fun Fact: Credit Cards Companies are not really required to ask for social but they do anyways, well some of them do.

1. Although you might not be able to get a social security
– Because you’re not a citizen, permanent/temporary resident or a legal resident
– You have to remember that a social is just use to report wages and to qualify you or social security benefits and other programs
– But if you cant get one, you can a ITIN Number ( if you are non resident, resident alien or even an illegal immigrant )

Why would we Want this Number:
– First it enables you to pay taxes which is a good thing
– Second it allows you to open up bank accounts
– Third it allows you to apply for credit cards

Tip: this outside of knowledge but if you are illegal you’re not supposed to be eligibal to work anyways ( this is just a way for them to get some money if you are making money )

2. How do you apply for an ITIN
– You have to file a W-7 form with the irs, you can do this via Mail, IRS office or authorize irs Agent

For example: I have a friend ( lets call him Friend 1 )
– He came to his country in his own way
– He finally got an ITIN number, started paying taxes, Won lawsuite and opened up a bank account with a BIG BANK
– He hasn’t gotten a credit card just yet, but I do knowone that came the same way and does have one

3. Which Banks and Credit Cards Accept ITIN Numbers and not just SSN
– First off, usually online you will be required to input a social security number
– But if you go to your local branch or just drive their ( you should be able to open up an account with them )

4. Before you Apply Check your Credit Score
– Yes you may have a history without have a SSN
– Check on this website ( use your ITIN)

– I would apply for a secured credit card Capital One
– This will require cash atleast $50

6. If your not able to get it done
– Be patent In the mean time open a Bank Account, start depositing money, paying taxes and using your debit card
