More than $50K will be distributed to B’ham small businesses through Penny Foundation Future Forward Grant Cycle

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Penny Foundation is hosting its 7th Future Forward Grant Cycle, where more than $50,000 will be distributed to local small businesses and non-profits.

The Penny Foundations says the Future Forward Fund provides an opportunity to access resources from trusted organizations that are committed to the success of Black-owned businesses and expanding greater Birmingham’s small business ecosystem.

The Future Forward Grant Cycle is now open for applications from small and micro businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits.

Participants have the chance to share their story via a written or video submission. Applications close at midnight on Aug. 31. Community voting will be held from Sept. 9-13, with the winner announced on Sept. 26.

“Each year the program has expanded to include all types of businesses throughout greater Birmingham. Former recipients’ services include electrical maintenance, childcare, beauty, counseling, transportation, environmental planning, funeral, cleaning, theatre businesses, and more. We hope to impact even more with this grant cycle,” said Penny Foundation Founder Lyord Watson.
