It is made from simple materials like wood, metal and rubber, and it can carry heavy loads of up to 500 kg. The chukudu has two wheels, a platform for the cargo, and a handlebar for steering. The rider pushes the chukudu with one foot on the ground, and then hops on the platform to coast downhill or on flat terrain. In 2008, chikudus were selling for 100$ with a cost of materials of nearly 60$.
