Now do I think people sitting at a desk, planning how to keep the poor poor, the answer is no. But I do think they are people at a desk trying their best to take all the money out of your wallet. I don’t think their a desk of people trying to figure out how to help you learn about money.

1. Lack of knowledge and lack of discussion
– I graduated from accounting with bachelor’s degree and spent 3 years and some change getting it
– I didn’t learn anything about personal finance
– Not in college not in high school

People feel more comfortable:
– About sharing how broke they are in general
– But they don’t really talk about ways to fix it or things they struggle with

2. Keeping up with the Jones
– Everything that they do with marketing
– Is about status, people want stuff to stand out
– It’s why everything is customized

For example:
– The normal iPhone for the poor people and the pro for the pros
– The normal cars for the poor people and the limited ones for the rich
– The normal homes for the poor people and the ones you can barely afford for the rich
I’m obviously making a gross generalization
– But it’s exactly what happens, people that don’t need things, get things just because they know people will know it is more expensive

Warren Buffet says: that price is what you pay and value if what you get

3. Normalize debt
– Debt for school
– Debt for wedding
– Debt for home
– Debt ordinary expenses
– Debt for everything

The crazy thing is: that people will call you stupid if you don’t get into debt
– You’re missing out on points
– Missing out on credit
– Missing out on opportunities

4. Conditioning
– They condition you to think it’s okay to wait until 65 to retire
– They condition you to think your 20s are exploring your life and wasting
– The greatest lie of them all, is they condition you to join a side to worry about all these things that once you read history are repeating themselves over and over

I won’t go into more detail for obvious reasons

5. The System is set up to use you, not for you to use it
– When I say the system I don’t really mean anyone in specific
– Beucase the system isn’t just one thing
– It’s really a bunch of moving pieces and specifically for us, it’s a bunch of companies that are interested in using you

Companies want 2 things:
– Employees
– Customers

Our Country:
– Isn’t focused on Wealth building for individuals
– Its focus on general education
– Giving people the chance to buy homes they definitely can’t afford

I guess what I’m saying this
– I don’t blame the country or the companies
– People when I was being an idiot I liked it ( I was buying things that I wanted )
– But early on, you are programmed to be these things, as you go through the system, but at a certain point with some luck, interest, and work ( you can find out how to break out of it )

6. My best advice
– ( money see, monkey do )
– ( not everything that shines is gold )
– ( things that are worth it, often take time to accomplish )
