GET GRANTS Auburn seeks public input on Community Development Black Grant plan AdminFebruary 2, 2025071 views The City of Auburn is calling on residents to share their input on how federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds should be allocated over the next five years. These funds, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), are intended to support programs that benefit low- to moderate-income residents and neighborhoods. The city is currently drafting its 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan and the 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan. As part of this process, an Analysis of Fair Housing Plan is also being developed, as required by HUD. Throughout November and December 2024, the city gathered community feedback through public meetings, stakeholder sessions, and a survey. The information collected will guide decisions on which programs and services are prioritized for funding. Residents now have additional opportunities to provide input during the 30-day public comment period, which began on January 9 and will close on February 7, 2025. How to Participate: Residents can request a copy of the draft plan by contacting the Office of Planning and Economic Development at 315-253-3513 or by emailing [email protected]. Comments can be submitted by email to [email protected], or by mail to the Office of Planning and Economic Development, Memorial City Hall, Second Floor, 24 South Street, Auburn, NY 13021. A public hearing on the draft plan will take place on February 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Memorial City Hall. The City Council will review the plan, and residents will have the opportunity to provide additional feedback during the hearing. City officials encourage all residents to participate in the comment period and public hearing, emphasizing the importance of community input in shaping Auburn’s future development initiatives. Requests for accessibility accommodations at the hearing can be made with three business days’ notice by calling 315-255-4100 or emailing [email protected].
