Black Belt Community Foundation opens arts grants in 12 counties | News

The Black Belt Community Foundation has a new grant opportunity available for community-based organizations that are growing the arts in the Black Belt.

Applications can come from organizations from Bullock, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Wilcox counties.

The BBCF will award up to $3,000 to support community organizations whose aim is to strengthen the arts ecosystem in the Black Belt. Grant applications are due before noon on March 18.

The 2022 Arts Grant Cycle will support efforts in the following categories: in-school, after-school, community-based groups, and summer artseducation programs, present and/or produce arts programming and attend professional development conferences.

Funding can be used for cultural arts experiences, including in person and virtual field trips to museums, art events and festivals, institutions, galleries, and visits from teaching and art consultants.

Organizations can provide arts education or integrate arts into traditional subjects. Community-based arts organizations can also put this funding toward the general operation and maintenance of their programs.

BBCF will host five Virtual Grant Seeking Workshops that are required for applicants. The workshops will be held via Zoom on the following dates:

  • Zoom, Tuesday, February 8th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
