Black History Month 2025 – City of Kawartha Lakes

Kawartha Lakes – Black History Month

Kawartha Lakes is proud to honor the values of diversity and inclusion as we observe Black History Month in February 2025.

This month offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the rich and complex history of Canada and the profound contributions of Black Canadians. As we join communities nationwide in recognizing the resilience, achievements, and cultural heritage of Black Canadians, we acknowledge the vital role they have played in shaping our country.

Throughout February, we encourage residents to participate in educational programs and events that highlight the experiences, accomplishments, and challenges of the Black community. Learn more about the contributions Black Canadians have made to our country, while addressing anti-Black racism.

To mark Black History Month, Kawartha Lakes Libraries will showcase specially selected books that explore and celebrate Black history.

As we commemorate this important month, let us also reflect on how we can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society. By embracing and valuing the diversity within our municipality, we strengthen the connections that bring us together.
