Black-Owned Companies Team Up To Provide Free AI Instructor-Led Courses To HBCU Students – peopleofcolorintech

Black-owned AI ed-tech company Skilldora has joined forces with African American billionaire Dr. Michael V. Roberts to offer its platform and AI Instructor-led courses to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Roberts is the founder of Roberts Innovation Group, which aims to break barriers and pave the way for Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities to succeed in the tech industry.

Skilldora, founded by DeMario and Dawn Nicole McIlwain, is an African-American-owned accredited e-learning provider known for its innovative platform and app. 

The platform aims to empower HBCUs to generate revenue while enhancing the educational experience with continuing professional development (CPD) accredited skill-based courses.

Their primary objective is to assist HBCUs in raising essential funds while delivering contemporary education to their student body.

The platform offers courses taught by digital human AI-generated instructors, focusing on AI and emerging technologies. 

Skilldora’s aim is to offer these programs, all while committing to upskill and reskill future-forward learners to meet the demands of the modern workforce.

Skilldora Partners With Roberts

The collaboration with Roberts Innovation Group aims to revolutionize the educational journey for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). 

“Skilldora takes immense pride in advancing the educational journey of HBCU students through our cutting-edge platform developments and AI Instructor-Led courses, facilitating online learning experiences that pave the way for enhanced career outcomes,” said DeMario in a press release.

“This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing HBCUs with a no upfront cost learning management system and readily available online certifications.”

The initiative, which took off with Barber-Scotia College in October 2023, aims to forge more partnerships with HBCUs throughout 2024 and 2025.
