Comedian Maya Rudolph Will Replace M&M’s Spokescandies After Almost 3 Decades

Move over spokescandies, there’s a new spokeswoman in town!

M&M’s decided to add a new M to the mix after putting the talking candies on an indefinite pause, TheGrio reports.

The spokescandies – the cartoon versions of the M&M’s that appear in advertisements – have been front and center since 1954. After receiving constant criticism for changing their look and personalities, the company has decided to bring in a real spokesperson: award-winning actress and comedian Maya Rudolph.

Rudolph is more than ready to be the M&M’s Chief of Fun! In her new role, she will “use her comedic talents and captivating personality to help M&M’s build on its mission to create a world where everyone feels they belong.”

Rudolph told People, “I was already the person that likes to watch the Super Bowl for ads, so I feel like, ‘Wow, now I get to be a part of that moment!’”

“Maya Rudolph … [has] been entertaining fans for more than two decades with her tongue-in-cheek humor, which makes her the perfect fit to take on the newly created role of M&M’s Chief of Fun to use the power of fun to bring people together,” the brand told The Drum.

Be sure to catch the new M&M’s commercial during Super Bowl LVII on February 12th!

“I feel like this [ad] has so much of what I love to do, which is make people laugh obviously, but also, have an element of joy to it,” Rudolph added.

Congratulations, Maya! We’ll be sure to tune in.
