Conneaut, Ohio, Municipal Court Nets Modernization Grant

(TNS) — The Conneaut Municipal Court has been awarded a $19,070 grant to modernize the court, according to a press release from Municipal Court Judge Nicholas Iarocci.

The court received the electronic citation special funding grant from the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee.

The grant is available to courts seeking to implement technology projects that enable electronic citation processing.

In the release, Iarocci thanked to Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio Department of Public Safety for the award.

“I look forward to working with the Conneaut Police Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department in fully implementing e-citation in CMC,” Iarocci said.

In a phone interview on Monday, Iarocci said the grant would pay for a software module to enable the court to process citations digitally.

“Once we’re set, and everything’s installed, then the highway patrol will be able to submit things immediately, electronically, and we’ll hope that the others will be able to build their infrastructure to do that,” he said.

Iarocci said the project will save a ton of paperwork.

“We don’t have to receive the original citation, everything can be done virtually, and it’ll just be a great savings to the court and to law enforcement,” he said.
