GET GRANTS FashionABLE documentary gets $25K NEA grant AdminJanuary 27, 2024040 views Black Hills Works announced this week that Flutter Productions, a division of Black Hills Works, has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $25,000. This grant will support the FashionABLE: All Ability Threads biennial fashion show on Jan. 27 and a film documentary about FashionABLE, its history, and the designers and volunteers who bring it to life. This year will be the fifth FashionABLE. The FashionABLE: All-Ability Threads show will be presented at 5 and 7 p.m. Jan. 27 in The Rose House at Jolly Lane Greenhouse in Rapid City. Seating is limited. Tickets are $25 per person and must be purchased in advance at blackhillsworks.org/2024fashionable/. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for the 5 p.m. show, and at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. Ticketholders are invited to arrive early and enjoy wine or beer from Jolly Lane’s Garden Bar, sample several flavors of gourmet popcorn, and listen to music performed by members of the Stevens High School orchestra. It’s so full of joyful energy and I get the opportunity to see things I don’t see anywhere else.’ The creativity is off the charts. Definitely anything goes,” said Heather Pickering, founder and artistic director of Flutter Productions, the company that produces FashionABLE. Flutter Productions will receive a $25,000 grant to help fund a documentary about FashionABLE. Courtesy Flutter Productions is working closely with Iverson Productions in Rapid City to create the documentary. “The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to Flutter Productions, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.” Flutter Productions is one of four organizations statewide – and one of two organizations in the Black Hills – to receive grants during this round of fiscal year 2024 grants from the NEA. Historic Homestake Opera House Society in Lead will receive a $10,000 grant to support Homestake Theatre Works, a community theater project. In total, the NEA will award 958 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $27.1 million that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.
