First impressions of FAURESMITH, South Africa – A Free State Gem!

Hi everyone! In this video, I explore the town of Fauresmith in the Southern Free State province of South Africa. Fauresmith is situated approximately 130 kilometres from Bloemfontein and 11 kilometres from Jagersfontein. It is the only town in South Africa and one of only three in the world that features a railway line running through the middle of the main road.

This was my first visit to Fauresmith, so it is very much a first impressions video. Join me on a tour of this unique town where we will visit the town hall, the prayer tree, the Dutch Reformed Church and various streets featuring lots of interesting architecture, art and flora. I will also visit a local deli where I indulge in a Free State delicacy, namely a vetkoek (or “fat cake”). It was a scorching hot day with the thermometer clocking a cool 38 degrees Celsius. Throughout the vlog, I will also talk about the history, share interesting facts about the town and articulate my thoughts.

A special thanks to Judy, Lisame and Jacobus for their hospitality, time and insights.

I hope you enjoy this video! If you haven’t done it yet, please hit the LIKE button, SUBSCRIBE to the channel and leave a COMMENT in the comments section.

Happy exploring! Vrystaat-groete
