Goa launches Mhaje Ghar scheme to grant home titles on government land

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that, for the first time in the country, houses built on government land will be registered in the names of their homeowners.

He said residents will need to pay a one-time fee, and only houses existing before 2016 will qualify. “The people of Mayem have long struggled for their homes, so we are starting the distribution of forms for the Mhaje Ghar House Scheme from Mayem village itself,” Sawant said.
