Hartford Yard Goats to host Black Funding Forum next Wednesday


The business expo will run from 5-7 p.m. next Wednesday and feature a panel discussion. It will be held at Dunkin’ Park in celebration of Black History Month.

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hartford Yard Goats will host a Black Funding Forum next Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Dunkin’ Park in celebration of Black History Month.

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place inside the YG Club, presented by the CT Lottery. Guests may enter through the doors on the corner of Main and Pleasant streets, according to a release from the team.

The Black Funding Forum will include a range of activities. There will be a variety of exhibitors, engaging panel discussions, networking opportunities and food available for purchase. Those who attend will also be able to shop from a diverse selection of Black-owned businesses.

The Yard Goats say that lenders will be on site to provide valuable take-home materials and resources made for entrepreneurs at any stage of their business journey.

“In celebration of Black History Month, we are proud to announce the hosting of the Black Funding Forum, in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration Connecticut District,” Yard Goats Executive Director of Community Partnerships Aisha Pettaway said.

Pettaway added that, “This dynamic event aims to provide valuable opportunities for Black-owned small businesses to connect with lenders, financial professionals and industry experts who can offer insights and resources on lending programs.”

This year’s Black Funding Forum includes a creative partnership with the Yard Goats Foundation and will feature a Black-Owned Business Expo. This initiative will display local Black-owned businesses, as vendors have been selected from previous expos organized in collaboration with The Sto.

According to the team release, the Black Funding Forum offers a prime opportunity for Black entrepreneurs to create meaningful connections, gain valuable resources and access support that can strengthen the growth and sustainability of their businesses.

The Yard Goats are the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies. Tickets for individual Yard Goats games for the 2025 season will go on sale next Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m.

Fans can purchase tickets online or over the phone at 860-246-4628, and tickets will be digitally delivered. Yard Goats enthusiasts will also be able to purchase tickets in-person at the Click It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin’ Park.
