How Much Income I make from my 5 Dividend ETFs | 2022

My entire portfolio just has 5 ETFs that’s it, nothing else. I’ll tell you right I have about 267,000 invested into this portfolio, not including my retirement account. Sounds like a lot of money and it is, but don’t forget I started with $7 back in 2018.

And before we get started I want to clarify something, because most people are confused when it comes to dividend yield, they think it works the same way as APY when you save money in a savings account.

-The yield Someone gets paid is based on the price they paid for the stock at a certain time
-For example, a stock gives out a dividend of $5 per share, the stock price is 100, the dividend yield is 5%
-But if I paid $50 per share and they pay $5 dividend then my yield is 10%
-Basically the yield is just a formula when you divide the dividend by its current price to give you the current dividend yield

1st: Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) 40% and pays 1.34% about 5.50 per share

I owned about 264 shares and I paid an average price of $252.82 per share

So not including dividend I’ve made about $43,079 already on this investment or 64%

Annually this pays me about $1,471.04 (which I reinvest directly back into the portfolio)

I like breaking things down to a monthly basis so $122.59

I know it doesn’t seem like a lot but this pays for my:

$80 light bill

$20 water bill

$22 of Gas into my Car ( its Prius so it can go a month on that )

2nd: Vanguard Small-Cap ETF (VB) 20% and pays 1.14% about 2.42 per share

I own 249 shares and I paid $195 for each so that’s a $4,378 gain

This makes me about $50.49 a month

Which covers my Phone Bill $35 and Gast Bill $8.75

Left over: $6.25

3rd: Vanguard FTSE Developed Markets ETF (VEA) 20% and pays 2.49% about 1.19

I own about 1096 shares a $46 which means I have a gain of $2000 currently

This makes me per month $109.47 + 6.25 makes it 115.72

Which cover my $80 a month internet bill

Left over: $35.72

4th: Vanguard Real Estate ETF (VNQ) 10% and pays 2.19% about 2.31 per share

I own 252 shares and paid about $88 for each so I have a gain of $4,200

And this pays me per month $48.51 + left over 35.72 = $84.23

5th Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VWO) 10% and pays 1.98% about .91

I own 573 shares and paid about 49 for then so I have a lost of $2,234 ( part of the gain )

The dividend per month is about $43.54 +84.23= $127.77

Enough money to pay more than half of my $220 per month food bill

= I’m missing $92 to cover it in full

Total Dividend: $4,474 per year

For the Curious
My only bills left over would be the following

Food: $92
Cleaning: $100
Going out to eat: $200 + dates
Rent = $725
Total of: $ 1,117
