How Selena Gomez’s Mental Health Journey Inspires Her Work

Selena Gomez is opening up about how her mental health journey inspired her to create the Rare Impact Fund. “This has been a cause that’s been dear to me from a very early age when I found out I was going through a lot of mental health problems,” she told Access Hollywood. “You know, finding out that I was bipolar was a really big deal for me. I just want people to be able to have the resources and tools that I’m able to have, and I want to give back as much as I can, so I’m very, very excited to be here and a little nervous because it’s my first gala.” The “Single Soon” songstress hosted the first Rare Impact Fund Benefit on Oct. 4. Money raised will go to support combatting mental health stigma and expanding mental health resources around the world.
