How Tiffany Capri Hainesworth Broke Barriers as the First Black Woman to Own a Tequila Company

Founder of TCapri Tequila - Black woman owned business

What does it take to make history? For Tiffany Capri Hainesworth, it took passion, determination, and tequila. Yes, you read that right. Tequila.

Tiffany is the founder and owner of TCapri, a luxury tequila brand that is making waves in the spirits industry. She is also the first and only Black woman to own a tequila company, a feat that is nothing short of amazing.

But her journey was not easy. It all started with a tragic car accident in 2012 that left her with a brain injury. As she recovered, she realized that life was too short to not follow her dreams. She had always wanted to start her own spirits business, and she decided to go for it.

She did her homework, researched the market, and partnered with Mexican tequila farmers to create her own unique blend. She launched TCapri in January 2021, just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world hard. The bottle shortage that affected the alcohol industry forced her to pull her product off the shelves, a heart-breaking setback after making history.

But Tiffany did not give up. She showed incredible resilience and agility, and quickly switched to offering tasting boxes and promoting her award-winning blanco tequila. She worked hard to regain her momentum and grow her brand.

She also faced the challenges that come with being a Black woman entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry. She said that it was definitely easier for men, and that women often faced stigma for being assertive. But she did not let that stop her. She stayed true to herself and her vision, and hoped to inspire other young girls to believe that anything is possible with focus and determination.

She also credited her grandfather for instilling in her a strong work ethic, and said that he was her role model. She dreamed of expanding TCapri globally, and sharing her passion for tequila with the world.

Tiffany’s story is one of courage, perseverance, and innovation. She broke barriers and stereotypes, and created a legacy that will last for generations. She is a true trailblazer, and a shining example of Black excellence.
