Josiah McKeever Awarded 2024 McDonalds Scholarship

In recognition of outstanding achievement and community leadership, Independence High School’s Josiah McKeever has been honored as a recipient of the 2024 Black History Makers of Tomorrow Scholarship. This initiative, spearheaded by the local McDonald’s Owner/Operators of Greater Ohio, aims to celebrate and support the next generation of black leaders in the Ohio region.

Nominated by his counselor, Darlene Johnson, Josiah emerged as a standout candidate with his remarkable academic record boasting a 3.78 GPA. Despite not securing top academic rankings, his dedication to excellence both in and out of the classroom set him apart. Described as a beacon of positivity, Josiah’s involvement in the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Cheerleading Squad exemplifies his commitment to academic success and community engagement.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ community, he brings a unique perspective and enriches the diversity tapestry of his school and community.
