Juneteenth celebrated with cultural center tour in New Bern

Juneteenth marks 160 years since the abolition of slavery in the United States. On Thursday, it is being celebrated as a time for reflection on freedom, growth, and Black excellence.

In New Bern, the Climbers Club is hosting a tour of the Charlotte S. Rhone Cultural Center, formerly known as the West Colored Library.

The event is part of the community’s efforts to honor the significance of Juneteenth and to celebrate the contributions of African Americans throughout history.
