KLEK 102.5 FM Announces Black History Month 2025 Events – All Events Are FREE!


JONESBORO, Ark. — KLEK 102.5 FM is proud to present its Black History Month 2025 celebration with a series of free events designed to honor Black history, culture, and contributions. The station invites the entire community to take part in educational discussions, artistic showcases, and cultural experiences throughout the month of February.
Black History Month 2025 Event Highlights
· BHM Kickoff & Open Mic NightFebruary 1 | 5 PM – 8 PMLegend’s BBQ Smokehouse (1025 West Johnson Avenue, Jonesboro, AR)Join us as we kick off Black History Month with an exciting Open Mic Night, welcoming spoken word, poetry, singing, hip hop, comedy, and more. Whether you’re an experienced performer or stepping on stage for the first time, we challenge you to bring your skills and make your voice heard.

· The Dean Speaks with Dr. Cherisse Jones-Branch February 5 | 7 PMVirtual Event – Streamed on KLEK 102.5 FM’s Facebook PageDr. Cherisse Jones-Branch, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Communication at Arkansas State University and host of the KLEK 102.5 FM Black History Moments, will present: “How to Keep Well: African American Health Activism in Early to Mid-Twentieth Century Arkansas.” This engaging talk will explore historical efforts by Black communities to advocate for better health conditions.
· Museum Tour & Mental Health Fair February 8 | 12 PM – 2:30 PME. Boone Watson Center (1005 Logan Avenue, Jonesboro, AR)Mental health providers can sign up for free to set up booths and educate the public about the resources they offer. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the African American Cultural Center at the E. Boone Watson Center and learn about the rich Black history in Jonesboro.

· Black Business Expo (In Partnership with the Black Student Association of Arkansas State University)February 11 | 6 PMCentennial Hall (A-State Campus, 101 N Caraway Road, Jonesboro, AR)Celebrate Black entrepreneurship by supporting Black-owned businesses and networking with local entrepreneurs.
· BHM Open House & Proclamation Reading February 28 | 6:30 PM – 8:30 PMKLEK Studios (1411 Franklin Street, Jonesboro, AR)The celebration concludes with a special proclamation reading by Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver, reaffirming the importance of Black History Month and KLEK’s commitment to uplifting the community.
