LIVE: South African Afrikaans Supporters Rally for US President Donald Trump | N18G

A group of South African Trump supporters assembled in Pretoria on Saturday (February 15), waving placards and expressing their admiration for the U.S. president. The crowd held various signs, with slogans ranging from “Make Afrikaans great again” to “Thank you president Trump”. An Afrikaans commentator, Willem Petzer, outlined their reasons for the rally, stating, “We are here in support of President Donald Trump’s decisions to make statements against racial laws coming out of South Africa. We also had a petition signed by more than 138,000 people”. The protest comes after Trump signed an executive order to cut U.S. financial assistance to South Africa, the White House said on Friday (February 7), citing disapproval of its land policy and of its genocide case at the International Court of Justice against Washington’s ally, Israel.
