GUAP NEWS Local entrepreneur breaking barriers | Community AdminFebruary 23, 2025034 views SHREVEPORT, La. – KTBS is recognizing African American leaders who today are still breaking barriers.Today, meet entrepreneur Roy Griggs, President and CEO of Griggs Enterprise.”I didn’t get here by myself, you know, I stand on the shoulders of so many that came before me,” said Griggs. “The work they did to make it possible for me to be a Black entrepreneur here in this area and to be able to own 17 McDonald’s throughout the ArkLaTex is simply amazing.”He went from working at McDonald’s as a teenager to owning several stores in Louisiana and East Texas.Griggs is the Capital Campaign Chair of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas and North Louisiana.Griggs was the first to own a McDonald’s in Shreveport. In 2022, the Roy Griggs School of Business at Southern University Shreveport was established for future business owners.Being himself a Black history maker, KTBS asked Griggs what Black History Month means to him.”I think it’s the time that we need to reflect on the past, remember where we are, and then remember the fight is still on.
