We limited ourselves to just one story from each of London’s 33 boroughs. This was hard. Each borough has many more stories we could have told.

This map isn’t a complete record — instead, it offers a glimpse into the breadth of Black London’s history and the many ways Black Londoners have contributed to the life of this city.

Where possible, we’ve highlighted stories that are less widely known — moments and people who deserve to be remembered. And we’ve tried to capture a range of time periods and experiences across the city’s history.
