MC Hotdogs providing homemade, hearty goodness for CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Most people love a good hot dog, and Marcia Hudson and her husband, Charles, are on the pulse of providing a tasty treat to the community.

Hudson sits down with WJBF to talk about how she began her hotdog stand, MC Hotdogs, plus, we get to taste their special, homemade chili with beans and coleslaw. Yum!

Thank you for being here on Celebrating Black Excellence. So how did you get started with your business?

Well, back in 2018, my husband and I thought of starting some type of restaurant. So we drove around, and we saw this lot here, and we said, “Okay, this would be a nice area to start something.” So we put our brains together and as we were riding around, we saw a mobile building. So we thought, “That’d be great to start a restaurant.” So we checked with Richmond County and went through the process, and we brought the mobile building here and started a hot dog stand. So that’s how we started it back in 2018.

What made you choose hotdogs in particular?

Well, we did not know of any hotdog stands here in Richmond County-Augusta. Nobody has a hotdog business. So we thought we have hamburgers, we have Chinese food, and so forth and so on, but not a hotdog stand. So we said, “Well, let’s do that,” and kids just love them. So that’s what we thought. We said, “Well, let’s open a hotdog stand.”

What is meaning behind the name, MC Hotdogs?

Well, my husband worked side by side with me. My name is Marcia, and his name is Charles. So, M.C., and we put the hotdogs behind it. We work side by side.

You serve other things besides hotdogs. What else is on the menu?

We serve hotdogs, sausage dogs, chili dogs, where we make our own chili, and we make our own slaw. We have chopped barbecue. We have wings with different flavors, fries… you name it, we have it. We have added something to the menu like fried baloney sandwiches, homemade chili with beans, we have drinks. Also, we have a Saturday special. You have to come by. We have ribs, and we grill that ourselves. We have a rib plate special as well. So check us out on Facebook for the menu, and we add periodically new things to the menu. So, follow us on Facebook.

If people want to find where you’re located, how can they find you?

Well, we’re at 3102 Milledgeville Road in Augusta, Georgia. We are on the corner of Milledgeville and Willis Road. It’s a yellow building. Some people call us a mom and pop restaurant, and we are MC Hotdogs. You can follow us on Facebook as well. You know, keep up with the menu and all, and we post different things each week. You know, just check us out on Facebook, and you can locate us on the corner lot. Now we do not have call-ins. So you drive by and order by the window, and we a have parking space, and I call out your number as you come by, and you pick up your order like that.
