Olympian to speak in Chatham on Saturday

A three-time Olympian is coming home to Chatham on the weekend.

Miranda Ayim will speak at the Black Youth Expo at the W.I.S.H. Centre on Saturday.

Ayim is not only an athlete, excelling on the basketball court, but is a public speaker, author, and certified wellness coach.

During her chat at the W.I.S.H. Centre, she will share insights from her journey to the Olympics and beyond, offering practical advice and encouragement to inspire the next generation of leaders.

“Our community is privileged to welcome Miranda Ayim, whose story of perseverance and excellence exemplifies what it means to break barriers and reach new heights,” said Doug Robbins, co-chair of the Black Excellence Awards and Black Youth Expo, in a media release. “Her fireside chat will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on our youth and attendees.”

In addition to the fireside chat, the event on Saturday will feature an authors’ corner, spotlighting writers Marie Carter and Craig Shreve, whose works continue to enrich Canadian literature. Both authors will engage with attendees, sharing their creative journeys and discussing the importance of storytelling in shaping identity and fostering cultural understanding.
