You need to promote your work as a graphic designer to get hired by employers and clients. This is the reality a graphic design career today. It’s not enough to do the work, it has to be seen by the right people and you are going to have to make that happen.

Self promotion makes graphic designers uncomfortable, and largely this is because they’ve been educated to think it should and that there work should stand on it’s own.

This is counter intuitive because they work in an industry that is based in marketing, advertising and promoting the products, ideas and brand of others but then are reluctant to do this as graphic designers themselves.

Graphic Design careers today are built less on your artistic vision and more on your marketing savvy than most would care to admit.
