GET GRANTS RDGF accepting applications for financial aid for local athletes AdminMay 12, 2024039 views The Red Deer Games Foundation (RDGF) announced on Friday they’re accepting applications for financial assistance for Red Deer and area athletes. In a media release, the Foundation explained the deadline to apply is on Friday, June 7, and can be done so online at the Central Sport website. On centralsport.ca applicants will find a form to fill out which should be emailed to info@centralsport.ca before the deadline. To qualify for the grant, the applicants must reside in Red Deer or within a 50-kilometre radius of the city and reside in that area for at least one year before applying. The grant will also only go to individual athletes, not to any teams or organizations. However, individuals participating in team sports may be considered if they’re competing at a provincial or national level. The funding will be prioritized for athletes still in the developmental stage of their sport but do not qualify for funding from a provincial or national sport organization. The funds will also only be awarded to athletes who compete in a sport recognized by Provincial Sport Associations by the Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation branch at the provincial government. The RDGF Grant Program has now awarded over $220,000 to worthy applicants since it first began in 1975. The grants are used by athletes to offset the costs of training and equipment as they pursue their athletic goals. Source link
