Reveling My Airline Stock Market Investments Results

So about a month ago I decided to invest money in airline stock, around the exact time when warren buffet said he sold all of the airline stock.

1. How much Delta Stock I bought and where I bought
Robinhood:
– I bought around 44 shares
– At an average price of $22.60
Sofi:
– I bought 565 shares
– At an average price of $22.16
– And actually put an order for $17 but the stock hasn’t gone to that price yet

Total: 609 shares
Total Amount Spent: $13,514

Tip: If the dividend yield returns to normal after September, we could be looking at maybe a CONSERVATIVE 3% percent Yield
– Which in this case would be $423 of dividend payments annually ( not bad)
– But again I used 3% instead of 6% as shown because you never know.

2. Why Did I buy when Warren Buffet Sold
– Well I think most people think that the way to get rich is to follow the money
– And sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t
– So instead of just following the money ( the best thing to do is understand the places the money is going and why)

For example:
– When warren Bought the airline stock ( which he said in the past he would never buy but he did)
– He paid price based on the current situation ( credit cards, travel rewards, all these things were adding up to growth in the travel industry)
– However, when the pandemic came along well the revenues went down by almost 90%

The Idea is:
– If warren waited for airlines to hit 20 bucks
– And he bought in at $45 bucks
– The airline would have to nearly double in price so he can get his money back
But: That’s not why he sold
– Warren doesn’t care about the stock price
– He cares about cash flow and revenue
– So when he invested 10 billion dollars he expected x amount of revenue per each billion from the company
( so although the airline stock might recover, he knows that the revenues will not for at least a little over 2 years or so)

What I think:
– Warren is 89 years old
– If it takes airlines 10 years to recover
– He would be 99 years old by the time he gets a decent return back
( Th average life span for an American is 78.5)- and I say because I know warren buffet thinks about this )

Because IN reality:
The worst thing that can happen:
– United Airline back in 2002 filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and then quickly recovered in less than 4 years
– So the idea is that even if delta were to go belly up
– Once things return to normal they would also recover.

So Overall:
Money Made:
– 15.66% on my money or $1960.55 from Sofi
– And 12.83% on Robinhood or 123 bucks

However:
– If I’m being honest these are all short term returns
– And by September everything could change and we could see a massive fall in stock price
– However, I’m not worried about a few months, Because I’m investing for the long run ( so if the stock falls more in price I’ll just buy more)
