She uses bricks to purify wastewater

In remote areas in Morocco where clean water is scarce, Dr. Salma Bougarrani and her team have built a water purification system that transforms wastewater into clean, usable water for farming. It uses a special kind of filtering bricks, runs on solar power, requires no electricity, and lasts up to 20 years.

With her invention – Green Watech, more than 400 million liters of wastewater were treated and reused in agricultural irrigation to produce more than 80,000 tons of food in Morroco communities.
