Social grant recipients frustrated with poor service at Postbank card-swapping sites

JOHANNESBURG – South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant recipients queueing for the card migration process are complaining about poor service at card-swapping sites.

Thursday is the deadline for beneficiaries to swap from SASSA gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.

Ntombifuthi Mkhaliphi, who has been queueing outside the Katlehong Shopping Centre, said this was the second site she had arrived at and there was no difference.

“Here they are taking four people at a time. I don’t know when they’ll finish us if they only take four in. Last time, I was at Chris Hani’s site and it was a long process there too.”

She added that despite being in line early, there’s no guarantee she will be helped.

“Yes I received a ticket today – I’m number 182 while I woke up at 5.”
