Star Valley’s Grant Thomson signs with Black Hills St.

Grant Thomson is used to playing on winning football teams at Star Valley and wants to continue the winning ways at the next level. He has signed with Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota, and is projected to be a linebacker with the Jackets. In his junior season, Thomson earned 3A All-State status at the linebacker spot with 92 tackles, 46 of them solo with an interception.

In his senior year, he recorded 58 tackles with 2 fumble recoveries and 2 picks. Thomsom made a name for himself on offense in 2024 as a running back with 688 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. He was named All-State as an RB and rang up 195 yards on the ground vs. Cody during the regular season.

Thomson also wrestles for the Braves and placed 4th at 215 pounds at the big Ron Thon Tournament earlier this month. Last season, he placed 5th at the 4A State Wrestling Tournament at 195 pounds.

Black Hills State is a Division II institution that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
