Tracee Ellis Ross, Star Jones and Keke Palmer Turn Their Shows Into Emmy Wins
Tamara Tunie also made history at the Daytime Emmys, and Palmer's win came through her own company, KeyTV, the outlet reports.
Several women of color took home trophies at the 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards, held in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium on Oct. 30, according to Black Enterprise, citing Forbes. Tracee Ellis Ross won her first Emmy, after five earlier Primetime nominations, when her Roku travel show, Solo Traveling, took the travel and adventure category on her birthday. Keke Palmer, co-creator and an executive producer of Glam Through the Ages for her own KeyTV, won in short-form programming, her third Emmy overall and first Daytime one. Star Jones won daytime personality with bailiff Corey Jovan for Divorce Court, ending a run of 14 nominations without a win. Tamara Tunie made history by winning lead actress in a daytime drama for CBS's Beyond the Gates, a barrier Mishael Morgan first broke in 2022, the outlet says. The outlet notes Beyond the Gates earned 15 nominations and four wins in its first eligible year. The money lesson: Ross and Palmer won as producers and owners, not only as talent, a reminder that owning the project is where long-term earnings and control live.
