GET GRANTS Sweet Breeze Canal boat tours start for the season this weekend | Local AdminMay 23, 2025024 views FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Starting Saturday you can grab your boat shoes and hop aboard the Sweet Breeze canal boats for the season. For its fourth season, the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation will bring back the popular tours among the Summit City’s rivers. Amanda Black from the department says that with less than 24 hours before it launches, they’re finishing up the final touches for passengers. “We’re doing a nice deep clean of the boat, making sure we have all the supplies ready to go, making sure the floors are clean and ready to go, making sure that everything is in ship shape for the customers to see the best that we can be this weekend,” Black said. While aboard you’ll learn a bit of Fort Wayne’s history involving the Erie Canal. This year the department will also bring a new program called Pedal Paddle Play. During this visitors will learn the importance of the city’s rivers. “We’re going to have a Sweet Breeze tour right at the end of that event, where the president of that organization is going to come on board and talk about water quality activism and how to appreciate and care for our rivers,” Black said. Tickets will be on sale until midnight before the tour starts. Any leftover tickets will be sold at the dock as passengers get seated. There will be multiple opportunities for fundraisers and giveaways during the tours. If you come this weekend you’ll get a chance to win free passes to Science Central.
