The ABL’s Congress on the State of Black Business Moves to DeKalb County- CEO Michael Thurmond Serves As The Honorary Chair

For 17 years, the Atlanta Business League’s Congress on the State of Black Business has provided a crucial platform for networking, resource access, and community engagement to empower, grow, and sustain Black businesses. This event fosters collaboration, addresses challenges, and promotes business opportunities for sustainable growth and prosperity of Black businesses. Although it historically takes place in Atlanta, this year, the Congress heads to DeKalb County, where honorary chair DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond welcomed the event. The Congress will take place on April 11th at the DeKalb Conference Center on the campus of Piedmont Technical College from 8AM – 3PM.

I asked CEO Michael Thurmond why he thought bringing this year’s event to DeKalb County was important. He spoke about the creation of economic development and the success of the recently passed SPLOST for capital improvements. This provides more opportunities for the county to engage with talented business owners. Thurmond also mentioned this provides businesses based in DeKalb with a convenient opportunity to network.

Thurmond spoke about business leaders attending the ABL Congress having an opportunity to see the dynamic growth and opportunities in DeKalb. He also shares that there will be discussions on success and overcoming challenges.
