My friend asked me, do you ever think you are going to stop reading; I answered I hope not. Believe it or not, it’s not just because I think there are so many new things to learn, I don’t really there are new things to learn at all lol, just things I didn’t notice before.

1. The Richest Man in Babylon Expanded Edition with Acres of Diamond by Rusell

Content:
– I’ll tell you my favorite part which is the part that I remember obviously
– It is when he shares the story of the farmer who was rich beucase he was content and content beucase he was rich
– And the farmer left everything he had, in search for diamonds in far lands, and in the end he died
– And then the author goes over many people who came up with great ideas and got wealth from their backyards

What I learned:
– Being content is the key, and as a Christian knowing that God is in control brings me even more peace
– At a certain point I thought about going to other places with more opportunities
– But then I realized the price was too high at least for the time being, it would take time away from the things I care about the most, God, Family, and church

Application:
– I remember I knew a guy who left everything and went to LA to pursue a career in rap with a daughter he had back in New York
– He probably thought that was going to amount to something
– But you don’t get ahead neglecting what you have, risking what you have for something you don’t

2. The Phycology of Money
– I read this book every year also

Content:
– The book has 20 short chapters and about 214 pages, it’s an easy read
– The author made it this way because he wants people to actually finish the book
– Some of the chapters that I want to highlight are these;
1. Save Money ( you should save beucase it’s a good idea and you don’t need a reason )
2. Reasonable vs Rational ( it may look good on paper but can it be applied )
3. You’ll change ( your strategies today will be subject ot change )
4. No one is crazy

What I learned:
– Specifically the chaper that changed my life, was the chapter on rational vs reasonable
– For a long time I was willing to wait decades to enjoy a “good life” and sacrifice my current life
– This book led me to be okay with paying off a home in cash, to not having any debt, and holding a lot of cash just because of how it makes me feel ( I’m a better investor after reading this book )

Application:
– Understand that life is not just about numbers
– But another factor will determine your decision-making
– And your decisions must also consider your feelings not just numbers

3. The Barefoot investor
– This book man, reading it was like a masterclass in personal finance
– It has all the basics and more
– It’s a book you can read when you know most things and a book you can read when you was just getting started
– The auther got his house burnt down and had to start from the grown up

Content:
– You have chapters on insurance
– Chapters on paying of debt
– And even the best way to invest

What I learned:
– When I read this book, I was still heavy on debt that I didn’t need to pay off
– I had a student loan debt and a business loan
– And reading this book, gave me what I needed to pay them all off
– It became a question of how do I want to live ( its weird I know but its true )

Application:
– When reading this book, you’ll get a lot about everything
– But don’t forget to do research and keep reading
– Because what works for him, may not work for you
