UNCF receives new $100 million grant to support HBCUs, students – WABE

For nearly 80 years, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) has provided scholarships for Black college students.

Recently, the organization received a new $100 million grant from Lilly Endowment Incorporation. It’s part of a bold $1 billion plan to support students and HBCUs.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Dr. Michael Lomax, the president and CEO of UNCF, talks with show host Rose Scott about how his organization will use the funds to double its investment into UNCF’s 37 member institutions.
