What working parents can do to support our caregivers

The women’s rights movement of the 1960s and 70s lead to a surge of women leaving domestic work and entering the professional workforce. In the early 2010s we saw a new surge of this movement with books like Lean In [by Sheryl Sandberg] and #GirlGirlboss [by Sophia Amoruso]. But for many, this requires us to outsource the the care of our children to domestic workers, teachers and others who aren’t paid fairly or provided equitable benefits.

In this clip with Angela Garbes, we talk about what women of privilege can do to better support the people who are raising their children. It includes support of a a federal mandate on family leave, provision of a bill of rights for domestic workers and organizations who are leading the fight to support caregivers.
