You Get What You Paid For…

You know I was on amazon yesterday; you know buying things I don’t need but justifying it. It’s weird but I notice that whenever I couldn’t decide between two brands, I would buy the more expensive one. Because you know, you get what you paid for.

Now you guys know me, I’m a weirdo, and I don’t care what I believe or how long I believed it for, if someone shows me a better way then I will reconsider my entire life if it makes sense.

So the goal for this video is to go through common things that everyone at some point will buy and destroy the argument that by buying something more expensive it will be better.

Ps. This is not a video about being cheap, somethings are worth the extra money (like plastic surgery, don’t end up looking like this by going to Cuba to get a 20% discount)

1. Cloths
Whats the difference between a 10k Birkin bag vs a $186 leather bag =
350 pair of yeezys vs a 55 dollar pair of steve job classic new balances
Or my favorite $3 100% cotton t shirt or 550 Gucci 100% t shirt

The idea is simple:

Anyone that says there is no difference is a liar, me and you know both that there is a difference, maybe in quality, maybe selection of material but that’s not why people buy them

People buy them to be different, people buy these items for social status ( these are called social badges )

The marketing genius is that you assume the person with the expense stuff must be luxuries while the person with the normal stuff is not

I masted this a long time ago: with a simple quote from will smith

My advice is, focus on actual wealth and what really makes you happy

And you’ll see why most people that are wealth don’t bother buying these things

But the ones that do buy them, can afford to

2. Cars
Lexus and Toyota
Nissan and Infinity
Honda and Acura
Chevrolet and a Corvette

Here the Crazy most people don’t know:
All the comparisons I made are made by the exact same company
They just have luxury division also
To takes advantage of the people that want to pay a little more ( for the luxury )

I was 17:

Taking the bus everyday for 2 hours per day

My dream was to get behind a Mercedes ( that unreliable, more expensive parts and don’t have the many part selection )
When I found that out, plus that cars lose 10% the first year and 50% by year 5.
I changed everything, I bought a car that was reliable, good gas milage and used so depression doesn’t hit as hard ( today with a net worth of half million I drive a $9,000 used 2014 Toyota Prius )

3. Houses
If hang around losers you’ll be loser
If you hand around over-spenders you’ll be one
And if you live a buggy neighborhood you’ll overspend

Something I learned:
The average ,million doesn’t pay over 300k for a home that average is actually in $200ks

Obviously if you cant afford your area move out and go somewhere else
Buy a home within your means so you can own it, not one you can owe money on for 30 years to show off to your friends

I was 24 years old:
I bought my first property for 130k, plus 40-50 remodel
The bank would have lent me 300-500k

But this home I own and its mine, and its located in a good area ( not the rich buggy area, but a good area )
