WASHINGTON (7News) — This year, DMV Black Restaurant Week will excite taste buds from Dec. 3 to Dec. 10.

Kicking off the week-long culinary extravaganza, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced seven businesses receiving grant money from the fourth round of the Food Access Fund and encouraged residents to support Black-owned restaurants.

Four of the restaurants to receive the grant are new to the district, while three other restaurants were already established.

Launched in 2021, the program spearheaded by Bowser “is focused on increasing access to grocery stores, restaurants, fast-casual restaurants, and other food access points, with a focus on Wards 7 and 8,” Bowser’s Administration said in a news release.

To date, officials said Bowser has invested over $24 million in funding for the Food Access Fund.
