What immigration raids have to do with our liberation — and why we can’t afford to sit this one out.
Let me talk to you plain for a second – Black to Black.
Every time I scroll social media lately, I see another protest. ICE raids. Families torn apart. Folks demanding justice for undocumented immigrants facing deportation. And I keep seeing this question float around:
“Why should we, as Black Americans, care about that?”
Let me answer it directly:
Because what’s happening to them has everything to do with us.
We Know What State Violence Feels Like
As a life coach, I talk to folks every day about stress, survival, and systems we didn’t create but still have to live in. And let’s be honest — nobody understands state violence like we do. Whether it’s over-policing in our neighborhoods, underfunded schools, or mass incarceration, we’ve lived it.
So, when I see ICE dragging people out of their homes at dawn, locking them in cages, separating parents from kids… I don’t see “them.”
I see us. I see trauma. I see familiar pain. And I know silence won’t save us.
