Black Table has launched a new effort to bring free business mentorship and educational programming to municipalities across Puerto Rico, targeting entrepreneurs and small business owners navigating continuing economic pressures.
The initiative, created by Cynthia Román and Elgeen Montilla, is designed to provide legal, strategic and commercial guidance to people who often lack access to professional advisory services because of cost.
Organizers said the program responds to a growing need among businesses forced to make critical decisions without expert support.
“Not everyone can afford a professional, but every business owner deserves access to guidance that helps them make better decisions,” said Román. “That’s why we’re relying on technology to help us bring information to every corner of Puerto Rico.”
Montilla said accessibility is central to the effort.
“Business education should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford private consulting. It must also be available to those building businesses with limited resources, but with the same need for guidance and growth,” she said.
The platform will host mentorship events, a podcast and educational sessions on permits, compliance, marketing, sales, leadership and artificial intelligence. Professionals from legal, financial and commercial fields will take part.
The first event is scheduled for April 25 in Luquillo, followed by a second session on May 7 in Hato Rey. Both are free and require advance registration through Eventbrite.
