Held Aug. 10–16, 2025, at 920 E. Lake Street, the fair invites Minnesotans to discover and support a thriving network of Black entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators—many of whom have built their businesses despite systemic barriers. Founded by sisters Destinee and Keandrea Shelby in the wake of the George Floyd uprising, the BESF was born from both grief and hope. “Each morning, as our city was hurting, we came together to feed, care for, and lift our neighbors,” the sisters shared in a statement. “We realized how many small businesses were struggling. So, we created a space where they could shine, connect, and grow together.” Now in its sixth year, the BESF has evolved into a safe, nonpartisan hub for economic, educational, and social empowerment. The fair highlights the entrepreneurial talent within Minnesota’s Black community while promoting financial literacy, wealth-building, and mutual support.
