ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says he will only serve as the party’s mayoral candidate for the upcoming local government elections in the City of Johannesburg if they cannot find another Dr. Nasiphi Moya.

Dr Moya currently serves at the Mayor in the City of Tshwane.

Mashaba says the party aims to be part of the government in all three metropolitan areas of Gauteng.

Over the weekend, the Democratic Alliance (DA) announced its Federal Chair Helen Zille as its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg.

Mashaba says he is on a mission to identify and promote black excellence.

“I will only enter the race in the event as a party; we cannot really find another Nasiphi Moya. One thing that I know, I’ve been an employer for over 40 years. I started business at the age of 22. So, I’ve been an employer and employing people, identifying talent and I believe I can still play that role in the political arena. I don’t necessarily have to really do it myself and I’ve proven it.”
