American Water Charitable Foundation provides a combined total $260,000 to support workforce development initiatives for the National Urban League and Affiliate Movement

SACRAMENTO, Calif., December 09, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., and California American Water, announced today that The Greater Sacramento Urban League (GSUL) has received a $20,000 commitment as part of a larger Foundation Corporate Strategic grant. Funding will enhance workforce development initiatives that help close the equality gap for African Americans and other historically underserved groups across California’s Greater Sacramento region.

“The Greater Sacramento Urban League is all in on closing the generational wealth gap and boosting economic prosperity among the people and families we serve,” said a representative from GSUL.

GSUL empowers job seekers through its Greater Sacramento Works Job Center, serving over 3,000 clients annually. The center provides career counseling, job placement, professional development workshops, and practical resources like computer access and one-on-one assistance for job applications. GSUL’s initiatives focus on preparing individuals, particularly from underserved communities, for meaningful careers in high-growth industries. Highlights include Job Talk, a monthly workshop connecting job seekers with employers, and occupational training programs with sponsorship opportunities to boost hiring prospects. Through tailored support and industry-specific training, GSUL helps individuals achieve sustainable career success.
