China is now the #1 most popular destination for African migrants and international students coming to Asia, numbering anywhere from the hundreds of thousands to possibly over a million. Although the two have had very limited direct contact in the past and are quite distant and distinct from each other, in the modern day, China has greatly strengthened it’s ties to many African nations across Sub-Saharan Africa and with these new connections have come new migrants, with many young African workers, students and entrepreneurs making their way to China (including Hong Kong) in the past several years.
