DeAndre J. Weaver, the visionary behind Haus of Sauce, has a rich background steeped in culinary traditions and family values. Originally from Dinwiddie County, Virginia, DeAndre relocated from California to Rockville in 2019 to be closer to his family during the pandemic. His roots in the culinary world run deep, with his father owning a farm where DeAndre grew up surrounded by fresh, homegrown food and frequenting fine dining restaurants. Weaver’s formal culinary education culminated in a Master’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America, where he was a 3x alum. It was during one of his classes that he was tasked with developing a food concept. Having always enjoyed making BBQ sauce for friends at gatherings, he seized the opportunity to create what would become his signature product: the OG BBQ sauce.


The Birth of the OG BBQ Sauce

The OG BBQ sauce, known for its bold flavor and strong personality, was born out of Weaver’s desire to create something unique that he couldn’t find in stores. He experimented with various combinations of ketchup, sugar, and spices, documenting his recipes and tweaking them until they were perfect. Friends and family loved his creations, encouraging him to share them with a wider audience.

Versatility and Community Engagement

BBQ sauce is just the first edition of what Weaver envisions as a diverse product line. He plans to introduce hot sauces and other flavors in the future. The versatility of his sauces is one of their standout features. While Weaver uses them on pork and beef ribs, customers have found them to be equally delightful on vegetables, rice dishes, wings, vegan items, seafood, meatloaf, and even as a dipping sauce for nuggets.

Weaver enjoys engaging with his customers directly, often appearing at Cabin John and Derwood Farmers Markets on select weekends. He values these face-to-face interactions, as they allow him to share the flexibility and versatility of his products firsthand.


A Vision for Haus of Sauce

Haus of Sauce is more than just a food business; it’s a mission to offer high-quality, versatile sauces free from the overly processed and artificial ingredients commonly found in store-bought products. Weaver’s vision is to create sauces that enhance food without making you feel groggy, ensuring they complement rather than overpower dishes.

During a panel discussion in his master’s program, which featured chefs and restaurateurs, including a renowned female Black chef, Weaver was inspired to address the challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs in the culinary world. He is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive product line, ensuring everyone has a seat at the table. Weaver believes that food should take you on a journey and evoke a sense of wonder, something he feels has been lost in American cuisine. His sauces aim to elevate food and “wow” the senses.

Weaver’s innovative spirit drives him to push the envelope and think outside the box. He is dedicated to broadening his product range and continually bringing new and exciting flavors to his customers.
