It’s Kwanzaa time! That means we get to celebrate our culture, our history, and our values. And one of those values is Umoja. That’s the Swahili word for Unity. It means we gotta create unity within our community And you know who’s doing that? ShearShare. Have you heard of them? They’re this dope app that connects salon owners with stylists who need space to work. It’s like Airbnb, but for the beauty industry. The business was created by Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell, a Black couple who have been in the game for over 25 years. They saw that there was a huge gap in the market for flexible and affordable salon space, especially during the pandemic, when a lot of stylists lost their jobs or had to adjust to new rules.

So they came up with ShearShare, which lets salon owners rent out their extra chairs, booths, or suites by the day, week, month, or whatever. And it lets stylists find and book salon space that fits their needs, budget, and location, without having to sign a contract or pay a commission. They also hook them up with insurance, education, and a network of peers and mentors.

But ShearShare is more than just an app. It’s a community that brings together salon owners and stylists, and helps them support each other, learn from each other, and grow together. It also gives stylists the freedom to be their own bosses, set their own hours, and keep all their money. ShearShare is changing the game for the beauty industry, and making it more inclusive and diverse.
