I Just Sold All These Stocks | Do This

The last time I bought a stock that wasn’t an ETF or an Index Fund was when I was 19 years olf, and the last time I bought an investment that wasn’t VOO, has to be more than year ago now. Meaning I sold everything that wasn’t VOO, and I dumb it straight into VOO

My old strategy

My aggressive portoflio use to hold 5 different types of ETF/index funds

I had S&P 500, Small Cap, Reits, Emerging stocks, and large cap international

And at a certain point I even had Corporate and government bonds

Now the reason I got rid of the bonds was obvisous:

Stocks outperform bonds 100% time in the long term

I’m invested for the long term

Thus I don’t need to have any bonds, its counter intuitive in my case, plus I’m pretty young

Then Why did Sell Everything else:

Well the reason I held so many industries was for volitlity ( meaning to stop the investment from going crazy down and so on )

I also wanted to be invested across several markets, and also into internatinal companies

And this sounds very smart right

What happened

Well VOO does everything I need

Except for volility protections

Which is something as an investor I have had to get use to, just this year I say my stocks go down by 15%, and thats 10s of thousands for my portoflio ( but I learned to keep a cool mind )

But VOO does this well

Its Diversified Enough:

You have 500 large and succeful companies

All involved in different industries with different customer bases

If one company goes out, another one steps in to replace it

It has International Exposure

People say you want to invest into companies outside the US

But most of these companies already do business outside the US

Apple, Tesla, Microsoft and McDonalds

Their profits are not just US base

What were the Consequences

Good news was, I sold when I was lossig money on paper

So all the money was transferred into VOO wihtout any tax implication which is awesome

But there are some things you need to do, to make sure you don’t fail

Things to do;

Dollar Cost average

Use the 4% rule when the time comes

Never stock investing.

Remove friction from personal finances

By doing these things:

I can withstand when the market goes down like crazy, without being worried

Voo ( What )

Well its an investment, and its clasified as a mutual fund but within that clasification its also an index fund

And the reason is, beucase the managers are only trying to mirror the market performance, they are not trying to beat it, so all they do is buy exactly what they need and they hold and make adjustment when needed

This means its super low cost and effective for the msot part

Now to be more detialed

This the s&p 500, which is 500 largest companies in the US, and it accounts for 80% or so of the US stock market output.

So I don’t need to buy the total stock market, because its more than enough

More details

This ETF, cost about $379 curently

Makes on average 10.53% annualized

And cost .03% as an epenses ratio

Basically:

If I invested $1000 per month for 15 year

I would have about $397k and just another 5 years it would be 730k

Total annual expense $219 IF I’M NOT MISTAKING ( basically nothing )
